ATHLETICS

Beginning Saturday morning, qualified amateur athletes compete in seven traditional Scottish tests of strength. Sunday features a Clan Challenge. Preregistration is required for all events except the Clan Challenge. Kilts are required for participation on Saturday and for the Clan Challenge.

Awards are presented to the top 3 winners in each Saturday competition. The "Athlete of the Day" is awarded at the end of the competition and is based on the best total of scores for all events. A Mid Atlantic Scottish Athletes Association official conducts judging and certification of the results of the Saturday events. Saturday Athletic Competition Because of the time required to complete the rounds of competition, the number of participants is limited. You may register for the event online via our Internet Athlete Registration Form or you may request a hard copy of the form from Bing Ewen by emailing bpewen@fewpb.net or by snail mail to: Bing Ewen, 424 Village Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601.

Registration will be open 1 March - 31 March 2007, or until all the slots are filled. The judges will review all applicants. Qualifying competitors will be notified of their acceptance for the events by 15 April 2007, and a list of the competitors will be posted on MASA and the KSW website.

The schedule is tentative and subject to change without notice. A signed release form is required of ALL participants.


Sunday Schedule of Events    
12:00 PM Clan Challenge Athletic Event.
Each clan is encouraged to field a competitor. Register in the athletics tent on Saturday or Sunday morning before the event. Competitors must wear a kilt in the tartan of the clan they represent. Events will include the open stone, 28# weight for distance, and caber. On the athletic field The schedule is tentative and subject to change without notice. A signed release form is required of ALL participants.
